NFT creation at JSPixels
NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) represent a revolution in the world of digital art, guaranteeing the authenticity and ownership of works. Here's an overview of how I create my NFTs and why I choose the Cardano blockchain.
What is an NFT?
An NFT is a unique digital asset that certifies ownership of a specific digital object, such as a work of art. Unlike fungible crypto-currencies such as Bitcoin, each NFT is distinct and cannot be exchanged on an equivalent basis.
Why NFT On-Chain on Cardano?
NFTs mark the future of digital art. Typically, off-chain NFTs store the data associated with a work via IPFS (InterPlanetary File System) links, such as ipfs://Qm.......However, this method depends on the availability of the storage server, which can compromise data continuity.
By opting for on-chain NFTs, I go beyond conventional practices. Here are my reasons for making this choice:
Durability: By storing data directly on the blockchain, we eliminate the risk of data loss due to availability problems on external servers. This makes the on-chain NFT as permanent as if it were set in stone.
- Immutability: The data integrated into the Cardano blockchain is immutable and permanently accessible, ensuring the longevity of each work.
I also use off-chain technology to enable images to be displayed directly on NFT browsers, improving accessibility and visibility. However, the on-chain method remains the most important, guaranteeing that essential information and artwork data are kept secure and perennial.
Metadata integration in the Cardano blockchain
I make sure that every NFT I create includes essential metadata directly in the Cardano blockchain. This metadata, stored in a space limited to 16 KB, includes:
- Title of the work : The name of the work of art.
- Artist: Jean-Christophe Giovannetti (JSPixels).
- Base64 image: The visual representation of the work, encoded in Base64 for direct, secure access.
By integrating this metadata directly into the blockchain, we ensure that each work is both immutable and permanently accessible.
- Technical details: Information such as the SHA-256 hash, used to validate the integrity of Base64 data and guarantee the authenticity of the work.
- How does SHA256 work?
SHA-256 algorithm - refers to a cryptographic hashing algorithm in which input data is processed using a sophisticated mathematical function, resulting in a distinct hash as output. This hash acts as a digital fingerprint, uniquely representing the original data.
Why choose Cardano?
The Cardano blockchain is renowned for its reliability and security. It is widely adopted internationally, including in Switzerland, the United States, Dubai and Japan. By choosing Cardano, I ensure that my works benefit from a robust and sustainable infrastructure.
The combination of data immutability on the blockchain and the technical quality of the vector format means that every JSPixels work will endure with guaranteed integrity and longevity.
